About Chemin by Punt Road

Punt Road has built a reputation for wines that hit the mark with Yarra Valley personality, quality and consistency. Its new Chemin range allows winemaker Tim Shand to go at things from a different angle. French for path, direction or way, the Chemin wines focus more on textural complexity and range of flavour. That means whole-bunch action for the reds and skin contact for the Chardonnay, plus minimal fining and filtering to retain phenolics. In a nutshell it’s a less-is-more approach.

About Tim Shand

Tim came to the Yarra Valley with vintages under his belt at Domaine Dujac in Burgundy and Château Margaux in Bordeaux, as well as stints in Chianti, Oregon and Chile. Since then he had a hand in some of the region’s headline-grabbing wines of recent times during his tenure at Giant Steps before taking the helm at Punt Road in 2014. Tim and the team are making most of the freedom to push boundaries while making the most of the excellent fruit the Yarra Valley gives rise to.
