2014 Airlie Bank Pinot Noir
Airlie Bank
WINEMAKING
The 2014 Airlie Bank Pinot Noir was produced using fruit from our estate grown vines. Fermented in a combination of stainless steel and open pots, a number of winemaking techniques were used to give complexity including cold soaking, whole berries & warm fermentation temperatures. The wine was then gently pressed and matured in seasoned French oak for 8 months.
AROMA
Dark cherry and spice aromas with underlying earth and forest floor characters.
PALATE
Medium bodied with lively red cherry, plum and spice flavours. The palate has a lingering finish and fine tannin structure.

I’m really enjoying these Airlie Bank wines quite a bit. Every egg a bird from perky faced winemaker Tim Shand.
This is rich, fleshy and full of flavour, but not heavy. Dark cherries, sweet spices and aniseed. Acidity is balanced, but low key, round tannin, decent finish. The joy in the drink is palpable.

Someone's just called and you've had to do a mad tidy-up to make sure the house is presentable. This pinot noir isn't in any way dolled up but it's so tidy and yet comfortable; it's just a pleasure to be in its company. Cherry-plum, some spice and stalk, a light coat of oak. It's nothing profound but it has easy-going complexity and juicy drinkability.
