2019 Dönnhoff Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spätlese
Dönnhoff
The oldest recorded vineyards of the Nahe are located in this part of Norheim. Kirsche means “cherry”, so the old name of the site suggests that wild cherries grew among the vineyards. The soils of the purely south-facing site are composed largely of grey slate, mixed with sandstone.
The Spätlese is brimming with brilliance and beauty – luscious, opulent fruit balanced by lively acidity. Immensely deep flavours of wild cherry enhance this Spätlese’s distinctive, delicious character. - Cornelius Dönnhoff

This is a totally charming beauty with succulence that's hard to resist and mineral freshness that lifts the wine beautifully. Long, complex finish with multiple moments of tension. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold.

The 2019 Riesling Spätlese Norheimer Kirschheck is bright and elegant yet quite reductive at this early stage. Racy- piquant and pure on the palate, with tension, grip and elegance, this is a promising Spätlese, but it is completely shut down at the moment. Tasted as a sample in Bremen, April 2020.
