2013 Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir
Louis Michel
Situated at the far end of the valley, our parcel of Vaudésir was planted between 1955 and 1968, over five plots.
Terroir:
Kimmeridgian. Limestone pebbles embedded in a clay texture, marl with oyster fossils. Relatively deep soil.
Grape & Vine:
100% Chardonnay. Age of the vines 50 years.
Vinification:
Long fermentation using natural yeast, in temperature-regulated tank. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation.
Maturation
On fine lees for at least 16 months, only in stainless steel tanks and with as little manipulation as possible. Long stabilisation at controlled low temperatures. Fining if necessary using bentonite. One light filtration is performed before bottling at the winery.

Not yet bottled. Intense nose. And great follow-through. Juicy but not sweet. One of those wines that almost makes you want to write ‘mineral.’ Exciting stuff. Super nervy. Good value.

A deep, powerful, brooding expression of Chardonnay emerges from the 2013 Chablis Vaudesir. Honey, almonds, dried pears and spices open up as this flashy, extroverted wine shows off its considerable personality and class.
