About Mount Mary
“It’s axiomatic that generational change can be good or bad, obvious or discreet. The changes at Mount Mary have been unambiguously good, but fittingly discreet.” – James Halliday

2015 Marli Russell by Mount Mary RP2
Mount Mary
65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 15% Shiraz. Matured in barrel (the Grenache in large-format oak) for 16 months but with only very small percentage of new oak. The 2015 Marli Russell red blend is highly perfumed showing black fruits and spice on the nose. The palate displays a beautiful fine tannin structure and fresh, lively acidity. It is ready to be enjoyed now but we expect it will improve with extra time in bottle.

A 65/20/15% blend. Lighter, but brighter colour than the '14; bursts into song, reflecting the great vintage and the inclusion of the mourvèdre. The bouquet is fragrant, with red fruits joining the fray, the tannins superfine, the finish long, the aftertaste fresh.

It’s a spotless wine, well fruited in a light-to-mid-weight way, blessed with spice and floral notes but not excessive in either direction, accessible but with a general firmness too. It is immaculate in all respects; it’s modern; it’s polished; it’s so fresh it almost feels tangy and raw but then it also feel supple; it plays to savouriness as much to fruitiness. For now or, even better, in the mid term, this will provide great drinking pleasure.
