2013 Moric Hausmarke Weiss
Moric
A blend of 80% Grüner Veltliner and 20% Chardonnay. Spicier, leaner style than previously, with more Grüner Veltliner influence. Some nice nutty, leesy complexity underneath that as well. Fairly direct in the mouth with a nice line through it.

Golden-yellow colored, the 2013 Hausmarke offers an intense and warm nose of very ripe and concentrated (pear) fruits mixed with herbal aromas like sage, while revealing a nice mineral purity in the background. Very powerful, intense and concentrated on the palate, loaded with ripe fruit flavors and good tannins, this firmly structured blend does not have the purity and crystallinity of the 2014, but a lot of concentration. Quite massive.

Subtle aromas of cantaloupe laced with tobacco. On the palate, sweet melon fruit is supported by a vibrant acid structure. Minerals and gooseberry on the aftertaste. A touch orange in character--or at least phenolic--from the small berries and thick skins, Hausmarke is mostly Grüner Veltliner, with a touch of Chardonnay. Although the name means merely house wine, this is serious juice.
