2013 Pierre Amadieu Côtes-du-Rhône Domaine Grand Romane Blanc
Pierre Amadieu
Produced from the estate's oldest Clairette vines (planted in 1955 on terroir situated at an altitude of around 300m), this wine is a genuine rarity: it is made from 100% Clairette grapes grown in Gigondas and vinified in new French oak barrels. This unusual combination results in an exceptional wine: it expresses the freshness of the Gigondas terroir while displaying an admirable smoothness.
Vines are harvested manually towards the end of September. The grapes are pressed and vinified partly in one year-old barrels and partly in new oak barrels, then aged on fine lees for 10 months.
On the nose are subtle aromas of pear and apple, with acacia flower notes. On the palate, you'll find intriguing flavours of grapefruit and lemon and a satisfying roundness, with a delicate and lively finish.
