2014 Piron Beaujolais Morgon Côte du Py
Domaine Dominique Piron
Standing on the top of the blue schist terroir that is Morgon Côte du Py on a wonderfully sunny but utterly freezing morning is something that will live long in the memory. Côte du Py has upwards of 100 growers sharing it, Piron being well placed with 7ha, all planted at 10,000 vines per ha.

Brilliant ruby-red. Powerful, deep-pitched cherry and dark berry aromas are lifted and sharpened by mineral and spice accents that gain strength as the wine opens up. Juicy and energetic in style, offering sweet cherry liqueur and blackberry flavors and a touch of candied violet. Musky herb and allspice notes appear on the subtly tannic finish, which hangs on with outstanding, floral-driven tenacity.

Dominique Piron is at home on the Côte du Py! This wine is the proof, with its profound, fine aromas of black fruits, spices, a touch of liquorice. The wine is still in its shell but is rich, full and harmonious.
