2015 Scorpo Eocene Chardonnay
Scorpo
The fruit is grown on the Scorpo family vineyard. The Chardonnay grapes (Bernard95 and P58) were handpicked on 14th March 2015. 100% whole bunch ferment with natural yeast, with 20% in new oak and the remainder in 1- to 3-year-old barrels. No bâtonnage and no malolactic conversion. Left in bottle for two years before release. Suitable for vegans.
The flagship Chardonnay from Paul Scorpo's immaculate vineyard is focused to begin, the palate follows a tight yet generous line with spice and fennel. Opening to citrus, leesiness and subtle stone fruit the complexity continues to build. Finishing with great persistence, purity and length this a wine befitting of the hallmark ‘Eocene’.

When you combine fruit power with this kind of complexity, and add finesse to the equation, then you go straight into the elite class. This drives home its case with flavours of peach, nougat, flint and a variety of barrel-worked complexities. One sip and you feel caught in its headlights; there's so much going on, it's hard not to become fixated.
