2007 Stadt Krems Riesling Grillenparz
Stadt Krems
Growing area:
The terrace plantations are located in the legitimately delimited wine-growing-area “Kremstal”.
Location & harvest:
The legendary vineyard “ Grillenparz “ is behind the beautiful old city of Stein. For the first time this vineyard was mentioned at 1180 called “ Ad Grillenporce “.
The Grillenparz vineyard is famous for Riesling grapes, because they grow on a special soil (conglomerates with high lime content) and so the Riesling is very good, mineral and fruity.
18.5-/20
"Brilliant light golden-hued straw-yellow colour. The bouquet is very elegant and tightly bound, showing refined and complex aromas of lime fruit, honey and toast, the wine in its secondary phase. This retains finesse and soft, ethereal interwoven subtleties. Dryish to taste, the palate is very refined and elegant in expression. The lime fruit tight and forms an intense core. The mouthfeel is very dry, tending austere, but flows along a very fine-textured line. The acidity is discreet, but lends tension cut and energy to match the refined fruit. Attractive secondary toast and honey nuances carry through to a long and sustained finish. This has finesse and poise with subtle secondary toasty complexities. Drink over the next 3-4 years. Kremstal DAC. Cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. and dryness. 18.5-/20."
