After almost two decades spent getting under the skin of the Mornington Peninsula, Onannon founder and winemaker Will Byron knows its sites, subregions and nuances better than most. His wines have always walked their own path—composed and beautifully balanced, but with texture, energy and personality to burn. They capture Mornington’s cool maritime conditions while pushing beyond the region’s more conservative traditions.

In 2026, an amicable agreement saw founding partners Kaspar Hermann and Sam Middleton officially exit Onannon, opening the door to an exciting new chapter. Pete Finnegan, owner of Tuerong’s exceptional Robinson Vineyard – a Peninsula grand cru if ever there was one – has joined Will as the other half of Onannon, giving the estate a permanent home among some of the Peninsula’s most exciting dirt. A new winery is being built on site, ready to vinify and raise the wines from the 2027 vintage onwards.
There’s a real sense of momentum here. Will has been solely focused on Onannon since 2021, the regional wines have never looked better, the single-vineyard program continues to evolve, and now the project finally has a place to call its own. Only exciting things on the horizon for Will and Pete.
