Freddie chatting Chapter HouseCharismatic Aussiephile Frédéric Blanck is in town and will be pouring his wares for the public this Thursday from 5:30pm at bayside locale Hampton Wine Co.
Freddie hails from the Alsace village of Kientzheim, where his family established a wine business almost 200 years ago. For the past 30 years, Freddie and  cousin Philippe Blanck have been in control, placing a sharp focus on the vines and the soil they grow in. The domaine has increased its holdings from 24 to 36 hectares, with five grands crus accounting for more than a third.
He’ll be showing a range of wines from the Domaine Paul Blanck & Fils stable, including the incredibly popular Pinot Blanc and a Pinot Gris that makes a good, Alsace-accented counterpoint to the new-world renditions of this ubiquitous variety. Also on show will be Freddie’s convincing and compelling Pinot Noir, the superb regional Riesling and a grand-cru rizza from the venerated Schlossberg vineyard.
