2019 marks CellarHand’s 20th Anniversary, and we’re delighted to be bringing the celebration to Brisbane. We’re coming with a collective of our top European producers for a trade tasting on Thursday, 14th February at Boom Boom Room.
Visiting and pouring their wines will be young Champagne superstar Jean-Marc Sélèque of third-generation grower JmSélèque, There’s more fizz to be had from Champagne Labruyère, whose winemaker Nadine Gublin will be wearing three hats – as well as the bubbly, she also crafts the family’s Beaujolais wines from Domaine Labruyère in Moulin-à-Vent, as well as being the long-serving (getting on for 30 years!) winemaker at exceptional Burgundy estate Domaine Jacques Prieur. From Germany, Matthias Müller of biodynamic Rheinhessen Riesling genius Wittmann will be here, and from across the border in Austria Jeroen Erens will be showing Riesling and Grüner Veltliner from the hallowed vineyards of Domäne Wachau. Also from Austria, Blaufränkisch guru Roland Velich of Moric will be making the trip. You’ll be able to check how these stack up against the best wines of Barolo, because G.D. Vajra winemaker Eugene Qiao of G.D. Vajra will also be here. The wines of Vajra are an across-the-board delight in charm and definition, and you have to take your hat off to a young Chinese woman pushing winemaking boundaries in Piedmont!
They’ll be pouring their top cuvées – think premier cru, grand cru, Grosses Gewächs, cru Barolo and other top single-vineyard wines. You get the idea!
