It’s nearly here! Riesling Downunder 2018 follows a hugely successful and enjoyable event back in 2015. This international celebration of the noble grape will grip Australia from Sunday 4th to Wednesday, 7th February 2018 inclusive. Something for everyone, trade professionals and general public alike – a sense of taste is all you need.
It kicks off with the Riesling Riot tasting for the general public in Melbourne, and concludes with the same event in Sydney a few days later. In between, there’ll be Melbourne masterclasses, lunches and dinners centred upon beautiful Riesling and those who grow it. The event, spearheaded by Frankland Estate and their co-sponsors Pikes and Jim Barry, will involve all our Aussie and Kiwi rizz whizz kids, while European guests flying over include Dönnhoff, Georg Breuer, Gunderloch, Dr Loosen, Heymann-Löwenstein, Wittmann, A. Christmann and Paul Blanck.

Pop-Up Riesling Bar Melbourne | The Channel, Arts Centre Melbourne
On the banks of the Yarra, a Riesling Pop-Up Bar and hub perfectly positioned on the Arts Centre River Terrace will be open for the duration of Riesling Downunder 2018 in Melbourne. Open to the public, the Pop-Up Riesling Bar is an ideal place to take in the great views of the city and enjoy a chilled glass of Riesling.
SUNDAY 4TH FEBRUARY

The Southern Hemisphere’s biggest ever Riesling party!
An informal tasting hosted by over 70 Riesling producers from around the world. The stunning setting at the Regent Theatre and its expansive spaces will create the perfect environment for winemakers to share the unique properties and magical powers of the world’s finest white wines.

Tastings and Masterclasses | Arts Centre Melbourne
Riesling is the most transparent of grape varieties, it translates the soils and character of place better than any other variety! With two days of tastings and master classes, Riesling Downunder represents a significant opportunity for Australian Riesling producers and the industry in general to further their understanding and appreciation of this grape.
A series of Tastings and Masterclasses in Melbourne on Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 February will provide insights into all aspects of Riesling winemaking and terroir. They also offer a more in-depth perspective on the Riesling grape.

Riesling Riot comes to Sydney – meet the makers from the world’s most iconic producers, discover the most exciting new Rieslings to hit the market and explore new and emerging regions – all under one roof.
Over 70 producers from around the globe will join together at the Sydney Town Hall to share wines, stories great food and music.
