These are elegant, gently stated wines, not try-hards. To taste them is to believe immediately that they are the faithful, accurate and unadorned expression of the vineyard whence they sprang.
Other producers talk the talk about terroir, but their wines don’t always back it up. Yeringberg wines are honest terroir wines without any need to shout about it.

Yeringberg is in the form of its life—and it’s been quite a life! Now in its 163rd year, Yeringberg’s fourth-generation custodians have been pouring their time-worn wisdom and cutting-edge smarts into ensuring a glorious future. While siblings Sandra and David de Pury have been busy future-proofing the vineyard with new plantings on rootstock and choosing orientations and aspects to mitigate against climate change, it only seems to have sharpened their appreciation of the raw materials at their disposal.
The Yeringberg range has never been more beautifully sculpted yet relaxed. This is the kind of rare quality that only comes from complete trust—in their site, their methods and their instincts. Given the ructions of modern life, it feels as though people take heart from—and pleasure in—those emblems of equanimity that continue to lead serenely from the front. Sandra and David’s joint crowning as 2025 Vigneron of the Year from The Real Review is confirmation that excellence never really goes out of fashion.
At the same time, our conception of excellence does change. Expectations are high. We thirst for wines of provenance and distinction, yes, but we want them to be emotive, meaningful and pleasurable (and not in need of years in the cellar to reach that point). Yeringberg meets all these exacting demands and more besides.

Vintage 2023
The 2023 vintage was characterised by slow ripening and fairly low yields. The spring was very wet, and the summer was mild. These conditions have resulted in wines with great depth of flavour and bright but balanced acidity.
The Wines
2023 Yeringberg Viognier RRP $57
Picked at three different ripeness levels over three weeks. All crushed and destemmed with several hours oxidative skin contact. 100% wild ferment in barrel, no MLF, 10 months in large format old oak.
A wine of elegance and finesse in 2023, the long, cool growing season has produced a Viognier of both purity and understated opulence. On the nose, there’s some restraint to the aromas of apricot, honey and lemon verbena, together with hints of white tea, ginger and orange blossom. The palate continues the aromatic theme framed by a wonderful line of moreish acidity and delicately pithy phenolics that provide the wine with drive, poise and balance. A wine to enjoy over the next 3-4 years, but might delight with longer cellaring too. – Sandra de Pury
Barrel fermented and matured for 10 months in large-format oak. A bright green gold. A little more restrained, perhaps, than ’23 with its complex bouquet of perfectly ripened apricots, yellow apple, quince and acacia honey. The palate is gently opulent, layered and very well balanced, finishing focused and long. A delicious and heady white wine to enjoy over the next three or so years. 96 points. Floral and lifted aromas of fresh apricots, lavender, fresh flowers, baking spices and pastry. The palate is medium-bodied with a generous texture and vivid acidity. 2023 Yeringberg Marsanne Roussanne RRP $79
Vines planted 1973-85. The two varieties were picked on the same day (not usual) and fermented and matured together. Both crushed and destemmed, with some skin contact time. Fermented in tank, then 10 months in old oak on light lees. No new oak, no MLF. Blend determined by vineyard, not winemaker, each year.
Always a wine of finesse and understated power, the 2023 vintage of our white blend expresses the freshness and vitality of the season. Lively floral aromas of jasmine, orange blossom and honeysuckle leap from the glass, interwoven with notes of pear skin, ginger and quince. The palate is deeply savoury, with a textured framework that offers waxy intensity, wonderful balance and driving length. A food-loving wine to enjoy now, or any time over the next 8-10 years. – Sandra de Pury
A blend of 61/39% marsanne/roussanne from vines planted between ’73 and ’85. Unusually, both varieties were picked on the same day, before being fermented and matured together. A deep-ish, bright green gold. Complex with aromas of pear, white nectarine, candied ginger and light floral scents. Aromas of lemon confit, beeswax, fresh flowers, stone fruit and honeysuckle. The palate is medium-bodied with a densely packed mouthfeel that is cut through with bright and pure acidity. 2023 Yeringberg Chardonnay RRP $79
Fully crushed and destemmed before pressing over several hours. Settled for 48 hours, then racked. 50% wild ferment. 30% new hogsheads, 30% MLF, 11 months in barrel with some bâtonnage in winter.
The third in a string of cool vintages, 2023 produced a Chardonnay of delicacy, concentration and finesse. Initially restrained, aromas of just-ripe nectarine, white peach and citrus blossom evolve into notes of oyster shell, honeysuckle and roasted almonds. In the mouth, there’s a vibrancy and energy that shapes the flow of the palate, with a savoury line of grapefruit and pithy lemon zest, framing richer notes of nectarine and lightly toasted brioche. Pure, concentrated and with effortless length, this is a wine to enjoy over the next 6-8 years. – Sandra de Pury
A combination of natural and inoculated ferments, then racked to hogsheads (30% new) and with 30% mlf. A bright green gold. Expressive, with a tangerine, lemon peel and almond-scented bouquet. A little chalkier and more restrained on the palate than the ’22, this very nicely balanced and structured wine should age gracefully over the next five to seven years at least. 95 points. Vibrant pale gold colour. Yellow peach, Manuka honey and honey butter lead the aromas in a rich-but-restrained aesthetic. Some peanut brittle and toasted almonds emerge thereafter along with whispers of toffee and smoke. The fruit sits above the savouriness after some air, keeping brightness. The balance of opulence and freshness carries over to the palate – smoked honey, butter, poached yellow apple, yellow peach, almond and praline sit within a lovely creamy texture while a fine weave of acidity pulls at the tongue keeping line and freshness throughout. There’s seemingly endless length here, it surges through the back palate with the mix of fruit and savouriness still intermingling. The palate is medium-bodied with focused acidity and lovely depth of flavor, finishing with a slight phenolic grip. Very pure and giving, with underlying freshness. Classic and delicious. 2023 Yeringberg Pinot Noir RRP $115
Extremely low yield in 2023 (again). 2 clones (MV6 and an old clone from Great Western). Vines planted 1969-74. Fully destemmed and crushed. 9 days on skins, 38% new oak, 19 months in barrel.
Our new Pinot has finesse, depth and complexity. Pure and bright aromas of raspberry, red cherry and rose, knit seamlessly with complex notes of Moroccan spice, kirsch and porcini mushroom. The perfumed palate marries the elegance and brightness of the vintage with the character and depth that come from 50-year-old vines. A lovely savoury structure and a line of acidity that lifts and sustains a long and perfumed finish. A wine that will unfurl beautifully over at least the next 10-12 years. – Sandra de Pury
Made from MV6 and an old clone from Great Western planted between ’69 and ’74. Fully destemmed and 38% new oak. A bright ruby red. Old vines, low yields and a cool year have produced another terrific Yeringberg pinot. Gently meaty with aromas of black cherry, blueberry, brown spices and lightly crushed violets. Concentrated, structured and long, this kept opening up with air, meaning that, while it can be approached now, you really want to have a bottle or three when it begins to hit its peak over the next five to 10 years plus. 96 points. This is deep and alluring on first look, with dark cherry, pomegranate molasses, and lavender rising gently from the glass before the emergence of nutmeg spice, raspberry coulis, dried rose and a gentle iodine-like minerality beneath. The palate is structured and powerful with a mouthfilling texture wrapping around morello cherry, red rose, plum and raspberry compote with some rhubarb in support before firm ribbons of stacked grainy tannins frame it up and draw it long. Very long, in fact. This is a very good Pinot Noir, putting on display power, complexity and architectural structure that has it boding well for a long rest in cellar. Medium deep and vibrant ruby red colour. Dark cherry, undergrowth and Jamon Iberico aromatics. The palate opens with bright cherry fruits, while layers of cinnamon, anise and clove ebb and flow across the tongue. Notes of jamon and loam deepen the impression. Acidity lingers to lift the middle, while fine sandy tannins build intensity into a very long finish. Power, poise and precision are all present, making it highly food friendly. 95 points. 2023 Yeringberg Shiraz RRP $115
Three clones (100-year-old, PT23, 1654). Vines planted 1999. Fully destemmed, with a mixture of crushed and whole berries. Some Marsanne, Roussanne & Viognier included in the ferment, less than 3% and not on the label. 23 days on skins, 25% new oak hogsheads, 19 months in barrel.
A vintage that plays on the aromatic elegance and finesse of Shiraz, 2023 has produced a wonderfully perfumed wine, with savoury depth and concentrated blue fruits. The nose is fresh and lively, with aromas of blueberry, violet and fennel, along with notes of five-spice and white pepper. The palate, simultaneously silky and serious, laden with inky blue & black fruits, has an undertow of savoury, ferrous complexity and gossamer tannins. A sophisticated, mid-weight wine that will drink well from the outset and over the next 10 years or so. – Sandra de Pury
From vines planted in ’99; contains less than 3% marsanne/roussanne/viognier. A bright crimson red. Elegant and perfumed with its aromas of spiced red cherries, raspberries and white and black pepper together with a touch of violets. It’s a little more approachable than the ’22 at the same age, with silken and persistent tannins rounding out a beautifully balanced wine to drink now and over the next seven to 10 years. 95 points. 2023 Yeringberg Cabernets RRP $115
61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 8% Malbec, 6% Petit Verdot. Vines planted 1969-2000. Different varieties picked as they ripened. Fully destemmed and crushed. 12-21 days on skins, fermented and hand plunged in small open top fermenters. 40% new oak barriques, 21 months in barrel.
Another wonderful year for our red blend. An elegant wine that will evolve beautifully over time, enjoyed either on its own or side by side with its 2021 and 2022 peers. On the nose, plush aromas of blackcurrant and violet mingle with lifted notes of black olive, graphite and cedar. The palate is fine, supple and perfumed, and also shows serious depth, subtly rich yet savoury structure and a delicate but defined line of refreshing acidity. An effortless and harmonious wine that will evolve beautifully over the next 15-20 years. – Sandra de Pury
A blend of 61/13/12/8/6% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc/malbec/petit verdot from vines planted at this historic site from 1969–2000. A bright crimson purple. A wonderfully complex and perfumed bouquet redolent of blackcurrants and wild blackberry together with new pencil box shavings, sweet spice and crushed violets. Medium bodied, in the best sense of the term, with the fruit, oak and seamless tannins coming together as one. Babyberg & the New Vineyards
Over the past three years, we’ve been busy planting new vines on rootstock to future-proof our vineyard and ensure Yeringberg wines will continue to be made for generations to come. We have also changed the vineyard orientation and aspect to mitigate against climate change.
The Babyberg range will be made from the youngest vines at Yeringberg, planted from 2020-2025.
These vines are all grafted onto phylloxera-resistant rootstock nd will eventually be the future vines of the Yeringberg label. But in the meantime, we plan to produce experimental, diverse wines under the Babyberg label.
In 2023, we made the first wine in this range, a skin-contact white blend. Another (slightly different) white blend and a Merlot/Cabernet Franc blend from vintage 2024 are destined for the Babyberg range. – Sandra de Pury
2024 Yeringberg Babyberg Marsanne/Roussanne RRP $40
The Babyberg range is produced from the youngest vines at Yeringberg, planted from 2020 to 2025. These vines are all grafted onto phylloxera-resistant rootstock and will eventually be the future vines of the Yeringberg label. But in the meantime, we plan to release experimental and diverse wines under the Babyberg label.
This blend is about 70% Marsanne, 15% Viognier and 15% Roussanne. The Marsanne was fully destemmed, crushed and fermented on skins (the way a red wine is vinified) for 3.5 weeks. It was then gently pressed to tank, settled overnight, and racked to old large-format barrels. The Roussanne was pressed as bunches to ferment in an old barrel. The Viognier was destemmed, crushed and fermented in old barrels. All the wines matured in their barrels for 10 months, then blended and bottled in February 2024.
2024 Babyberg is a playful and modern take on a Marsanne, Viognier, Roussanne blend. We included some Viognier this year to round out the phenolics from the Marsanne’s longer skin contact time. The colour is golden yellow with orange hues. Aromatically expressive with tea, honeysuckle and cumquat blossom aromas. The palate has an apricot-laden, spicy and silky richness balanced by distinct chewy phenolics and a long finish. It is a bit richer and has more phenolics than the 2023, but this is balanced by the addition of Viognier, which adds palate silkiness and exotic perfume. – Sandra de Pury
Yeringberg is one of Australia’s most venerable vineyards, established in 1863 and now run by fourth-generation vignerons. Given that tradition, it’s perhaps surprising to find a cutting-edge skinsy white emerging from the winery. And yet here it is, in all its aromatic, savoury glory: two-thirds marsanne, fermented on skins before blending with roussanne and ageing for a year in old barrels. 2024 Yeringberg Rosé RRP $40
All grapes from our 1999 plantings and purposefully selected for Rosé. The Shiraz was pressed as bunches. The Cabernet grapes were destemmed and crushed, then pressed very gently. Fermented separately in stainless steel, then aged in old oak barrels for 6 months. It’s a blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon and 31% shiraz. Bottled in September 2024. 13% alc. – Sandra de Pury
A blend of 69/31% cabernet sauvignon/shiraz, both from ’99 plantings. A light, bright salmon pink. Highly perfumed aromas of summer red fruits, tangerine and blood oranges together with light savoury and floral notes. The palate is dry, silky textured and lithe, finishing orange pithy and long.
