2013 Montevecchio Rosso
Montevecchio
Montevecchio Rosso is a co-fermented field blend made from negroamaro, nero d’Avola, lagrein & sagrantino. Aromas of vibrant rasberry and purple fruits are balanced perfectly with a savoury meatiness and refreshing acidity. This medium-bodied wine has plenty of supple fruit, soft tannins and is designed to be enjoyed in its youth.

Made using lagrein, sangiovese, nero d’Avola and negroamaro, mostly, with various other Italian varieties tossed in. Hand picked, wild fermented and matured in old oak.
It’s a winner. It’s a beautiful drinking style. It’s mid weight at most but it lashes spice, chalk and tannin to a mast of red/black cherried fruit. It’s chewy, dry and mouth-puckering, in a good way. In short, there’s much to admire here.

A blend of approximately 25% each of sanigovese, nero d'Avola, negroamaro and lagrein. Good hue; a lively, predominantly red-fruited wine with good balance to its medium-bodied palate; the spicy/savoury/fluffy tannins are a plus.
