2016 Heartland Spice Trader Shiraz
Heartland
Heartland Spice Trader Shiraz was de-stemmed, crushed and pumped over twice a day for ten days. The wine matured for 12 months in oak prior to bottling. Boasting nuances of dark fruit from sweet blueberry to savoury black olive, a punch of flavour that tapers off and leaves a lovely spicy peppery note.
The aromas grow in intensity as the wine builds in the glass. The longer you leave it, the more you get. Blackcurrants and dark spices are seen again on the palate. Here the complex and powerful flavours are complemented by a rich texture and long savoury finish.

90 points.
A 4-year-old Shiraz (five if you can hold onto any over the summer '21 barbecue season) below $20. That's pretty good going already for this dark-berried, plum-and-spice wine that's had plenty of time to find its groove. Full bodied, rich and generous to the core.
