2014 Huia Sauvignon Blanc
Huia
The Sauvignon Blanc 2014 was harvested from our two Certified Organic Estate vineyards. The Huia Vineyard soil is river-run, made up of sandy siltsand stones which retain heat overnight. The grapes from this vineyard display ripe, tropical flavours. The Winsome vineyard is clay based mixed with black sand. With cooler nights and warmer days, we get more herbaceous, mineral flavours from our grapes. Harvest commenced on the 3rd of April, and finished up at Winsome on the 12th April. The majority of grapes were harvested in the cold early hours of the morning to retain fruit intensity and freshness.
Winemaking:
The grapes were pressed with the different vineyards being kept in separate vessels. Twenty percent of the blend fermented with wild yeasts, and an additional 10 percent joined this portion for ferment in neutral French oak barrels. This practice adds further richness and complexity to the palate of the wine. Organic wine yeasts were used on the juice to maintain vivacious fruit aromatics and flavour of this variety. Huia Winery is certified Organic by BioGro.
Tasting Note:
This wine shows a good aromatic intensity with bright herbaceous and floral notes, gooseberry, and lime. It is layered with flavours ranging from guava, melon, gooseberry and lime zest. This uplifting Sauvignon Blanc shows an excellent length and depth on the palate.

Huia Estate Grown Sauvignon Blanc 2014 Marlborough
Complex and layered bouquet with aromas of wild honey, sweet lemon, apple and gentle old oak complexity cushioned with a lees note. On the palate – wild, fruity, complex, intriguing, layers of fruit flavours, lively and crisp with a long finish. The highlight with this wine is texture and flavour. It is delicious.
