2019 Latour-Giraud Meursault Narvaux
Latour-Giraud
The famous 16-hectare Narvaux climat is situated in the highest vineyards of the village, at the tip of the top premiers crus. Grown on thin, poor soil and substrata (multiple layers of lava), the wine takes the best features of the soil. The wine has fantastic finesse and aromatic complexity, while the palate has abundant elegance, complexity and length.

A little more primrose in the colour, with some weight of fruit, not quite the excitement I was hoping for but possibly dampened by the recent bottling. On the palate the expected concentration kicks in, tightly wound, some citrus notes in with ripe apple and a little bit of plum. Don’t be in a hurry for this. Very slight passion fruit aromatics. Slightly between two stools at the moment. Les Narvaux makes Jean-Pierre think of Meursault Perrières at village level.

A more elegant combination consists of cool citrus and airy floral nuances along with apple, poached pear and a whiff of exotic tea. The delicious, racy and impressively concentrated medium-bodied flavors that display excellent power on the compact, mineral driven and beautifully long finale. This is a really good Meursault villages that should age gracefully for up to a decade.
