2013 Moric Müllendorf Grüner Veltliner
Moric
Chalky soils, old inland sea, oyster shells... Chablis anyone? Barrel fermented. A more winemaking-driven wine, with loads of creamy, leesy, nutty stuff going on; think Wachau Smaragd but less primary. However, there is a drive through the wine as well. Very interesting.

Apricot and pineapple complicated by nuances of smoke and pepper on the nose. Rich and full in the mouth, displaying a velvety sweetness, this Grüner Veltliner remains astoundingly elegant and light on its feet thanks to its mineral core. Well-balanced and with a chalky intensity, the 2013 Müllendorf finishes with excellent persistence.

Light yellow gold in color, this barrel sample smells intensely mineral with high notes of lemon oil, chamomile, and white flowers. In the mouth, the wine has an incredible precision with long bright lemon oil, white peach, and meyer lemon neon brightness. Silky, with incredible acidity and deep minerality, this wine has a remarkably long finish.
