2014 Scorpo Pinot Gris
Scorpo
Paul Scorpo produces some truly superb fruit from his meticulously planted vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula. With the help of Sandro Moselle at Kooyong winery, the Scorpo range has deservedly received some serious attention. In a very short space of time Scorpo has built a reputation for making some of the Peninsula’s best wines.
Pale straw in colour with a chartreuse-tinted rim. Complex aromas of pear and stone fruits meld fully with savoury nuttiness and a spicy note of fresh vanilla pod. The palate, showing pear and orange blossom flavours, is tightly focused yet retains the silky signature pinot gris richness.

Terrific intensity of flavour. If it must be pinot gris then there's an argument to say that it must be this. Pear drop, slate, spice and mineral characters soar through the palate, impressing and delighting in equal measure.

Intensity of fruit is the key here with this leading Mornington Peninsula pinot gris. One sip and I was a fan. This drinks and impresses at the same time. Pear, slate, spice and mineral characters do all the chatting, and an entertaining conversation it is too. A standout wine for this variety.
