2012 Shadowfax Shiraz
Shadowfax
Good deep red, garnet edge, brilliant clarity. Plummy fruit and nutmeg spice leap from the glass. Cassis, a touch of aniseed and a hint of gravel. Black fruits, Satsuma plums and a hint of cocoa follow onto a palate. The tannins are rich and velvety, adding structure and length to a beautifully weighted, bright palate. This is a fine example of cool grown, carefully handled Victorian Shiraz, and will age with distinction for many years.

From the winery vineyard at Werribee and from Heathcote, matured in new and used French barriques. A super-elegant, light to medium-bodied wine, tripping lightly along the palate with its profusion of spices, red fruits and plums; the tannins are a silken gauze, the oak surprisingly well integrated. Ready now or soonish.
