TASTING NOTES

Once a combination of younger material of both Serraboella and Bricco di Neive, ‘Vie Erte’ is now made entirely off mature vine material exclusively from the sandy soils of Bricco di Neive. Raised in cask for 26 months. An open and complex nose of high, perfumed tones and lower tones of turned earth with just a hint of herb (think Amaro). The tannins are fine, grainy and mouth filling. This could be opened any time over the next 20 years. Sam Hooper, CellarHand

“The 2019 Barbaresco Bricco di Neive Vie Erte is impressive. It shows the nervous energy that has long been its signature, but with a bit more depth through the middle than in the past. Whether that is the vintage of just the quality of the older vines is harder to say, but it is pretty obvious the 2019 is impressive. Bright red fruit, orange peel, white pepper, mint and orange zest infuse this nervy Barbaresco from a southwest side on sand with tons of nuance. The classically austere finish, with its vibrant acids, is quite attractive. The Vie Erte was aged entirely in cask.
