Stefano Lubiana
Vineyard blocks: 100% estate grown, single vineyard
Geology: Mix of two terroirs, grey gravelly loams over clay and red loam over gravel
Vineyard management: 100% biodynamic, certified
Winemaking notes: Fruit is hand picked and sorted by hand on our vibrating table. Wild yeast ferment, 8-10 months in in new & old French oak barrels
Wine notes: Steve and Monique Lubiana view this as the most layered & complex of the three Chardonnays they make. The ‘Estate’ is a classic example of a robust but beautifully balanced cool-climate wine. It has all the elements of a great Chardonnay present - fruit, oak, acid, creamy texture & complexity, but no element overpowers the other. A wonderful wine to enjoy now, or watch it grow and develop over the years in the bottle.

Certified organic. 100% estate grown, vinified and bottled. Tasted blind. The oak makes quite a serious statement here, with more than a passing resemblance to fine white burgundy. Bit of savoury creaminess that reminded me of a macadamia-nut crust we recently had on raw scallops with yuzu beads. The scent of ripe apples, the taste of gunflint. Full and with richness but sophisticated, tucked in, expressive. Vibrating long in tension and beauty.
